** BACKROOMS 2: Following the $118 million opening for A24's BACKROOMS, yes, of course there will be a sequel. Filmmaker and face of BACKROOMS Kane Parsons has made no secret on the press tour for the film about his desire to expand into a feature anthology, and that he's taken the IP as far as possible on YouTube.
But what's up with the sequel, this minute, right now? Especially after this weekend's monumental success? Sources tell us that Parsons is looking for a screenwriting collaborator to work on the sequel with. That's the state that the BACKROOMS sequel is in right now. ** 28 YEARS LATER 3: Director Danny Boyle has spoken about it during a chat with the JoBlo web site. Boyle says a third film remains in the works, and he still plans to direct, but the production hit a scheduling snare that forced Sony to delay filming until next year. He explains:
"We ran out of time, because it's set in an area of Britain [where] you can only film at certain times of the year. We ran out of time this year – we literally ran out of time. So it'll be, hopefully, fingers crossed next year, but there's the enthusiasm there, and Alex [Garland] has done a wonderful script for it." (thanks to DarkHorizons.com)
** EVIL DEAD WRATH: The upcoming EVIL DEAD WRATH has officially wrapped production ahead of a planned release on April 7th 2028. Filmmaker Francis Galluppi (THE LAST STOP IN YUMA COUNTRY) writes and directs the film, the seventh overall movie in the series, and a short video marking the wrap has been released – one involving a big pool of blood.
EVIL DEAD creator Sam Raimi and franchise producer Rob Tapert are producing, while Bruce Campbell, Lee Cronin, Romel Adam and Jose Canas will executive produce. No story details have emerged about the film as yet. (thanks to DarkHorizons.com)

** OBSESSION: The horror film made $26.4 million domestically in its third weekend, a 10% increase on its second weekend haul. This marks the first time a film, outside a holiday window, has seen two weekends of increases from its opening since E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL back in 1982.

** ONSLAUGHT: Director Adam Wingard's new film ONSLAUGHT has set a September 4th release date via distributor A24. The date has been revealed via the action-horror film's first trailer, which appears attached to copies of BACKROOMS in cinemas this weekend. No announcement has been made as yet regarding when the film will release said trailer online.
Wingard and writer Simon Barrett co-wrote the film which stars Adria Arjona as a woman tasked with taking down an unstoppable force that has escaped from a secret military base.
