** FRIDAY THE 13th: Producer Robert Barsamian has revealed what he's got in the works. He told SFX magazine, "We are actively working on a new movie – which will be the 13th in the franchise – as well as a new video game." He added that Jason Voorhees will "return in other unexpected ways" beyond the new film and game, as we saw with the unexpected Sweet Revenge.
Horror Inc. CMO Sheri Conn also commented on the controversial redesign of Jason's hockey mask: "We reimagined the eyes on his mask to make Jason look even more menacing and paid homage to the franchise with the 13 holes in the mask. The new design (of the mask and the character) will be used across the board, with some slight differences in interpretation to fit the specific context of each project."
When asked about continuity between upcoming projects and the films we already have, Barsamian simply said, "We're exploring a variety of opportunities, but consistently staying focused on authenticity." (thanks to Joblo.com)

** THE INVISIBLE MAN sequel: At the start of the year, filmmaker Leigh Whannell revealed that Universal Pictures had no plans for a follow-up to 2020's THE INVISIBLE MAN adaptation which he directed. The film garnered rave reviews and performed strongly at the box office, transforming the classic story into a domestic abuse thriller with sci-fi overtones. Promoting his WOLF MAN take in January, he said any possibility of THE INVISIBLE MAN sequel is pretty much over, as the ending of the first is so definitive and artistically satisfying.
Now, while speaking to Screen Rant, the film's star Elizabeth Moss revealed that she still wants to make a sequel and is open to it being made one day, so long as the script comes together:
"It was out for two weeks before COVID and made hundreds of millions of dollars. We could have easily just churned out a sequel and thrown it up on streaming and called it a day, and I think some people would've made money off of that. I am so grateful to Universal and Blum for not doing that and for having a standard that's unusual in these circumstances and really wanting it to be worth doing. So it's an unusual thing, but that doesn't usually happen.
But I feel like it's important. We love that movie so much. The people who made it – we're so proud of it. We really want to make sure [that] if we do a sequel, it's worthy and it's going to have to be as good if not better. So that's been kind of what's slowed us down. But I don't think that's a bad thing. I think if we're going to do it, it's got to be right. But we still want to do it. We're still working on it. We just have to get the right script together."
The film was shot for just $7 million and ended up generating $144.5 million at the box-office, but its theatrical release in late February 2020 was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. (thanks to DarkHorizons.com)
